The JAWT Lekietio Masters competition was greatly effected by injuries before the 3rd place and final matches on August 13.
Playing in a non-JAWT match, Christophe Olha was injured and had to be replaced. Olha injured his groin in a match with Enbil v Goikoetxea-Alliez (substituting for the injured Etcheto) in Hossegor on August 11. Nicolas Etcheto injured his right bicep sometime before that.

The rash of injuries to back courters (Inza, Etcheto, Irastorza) and the lack of availability of other back courters due to previous engagements led to a great experiment. Goikoetxea moved to the back court and substituted for Etcheto with Egiguren v Hormatxea-Aldazabal in the final match of a Gernika tournament which was contested on August 12.
